About the ARC
The Academic Resource Center (ARC) provides UB students with the support they need to develop stronger academic skills. The Center is available to members of the Education Opportunity Program (EOP), Student Support Services (SSS) and Access to College Excellence (ACE). It is devoted to helping members reach their full potential, by giving them high-quality assistance from their fellow students. The lab is open 67 hours a week and offers a broad range of tutoring services to meet each student’s individual needs. The Center staff spend many hours matching tutors and tutees based off the applications they receive to ensure the best fit possible. The labs are conveniently located across campus and they are equipped with computers and printing stations. Students can plan their one-hour sessions in advance or they are able to come in during walk-in hours to receive assistance. In addition to working with a tutor, each student is given an Academic Coach. Academic Coaches are available by appointment for 30-minute sessions and they are there to coach students on key aspects of studying such as organization, time management and study strategies. This program is devoted to helping underperforming students reach their maximum potential not only for a single semester but throughout the rest of their academic careers.
